Align around common purpose
and vision

Get clarity on the future direction of the team’s work

Create healthy team relationships

Make constructive decisions and commitments

Team coaching is a powerful process that helps your team reach goals while fostering engagement, team health, and success. When people feel safe, trust each other, and share values, they collaborate better and make decisions that benefit everyone.

On the surface, many teams function well, but they are seldom as effective as they could be.

You might recognise the following:

  • The team is not aligned around a common purpose, even though you have spent lots of time creating and talking about your vision, goals, and key indicators.
  • You have made job descriptions, but the employees are complaining that roles and responsibilities are not clearly defined.
  • You have invested in one-off team-building activities, but the team is still stuck.
  • When the pressure on the team increases, conflicts laying under the surface erupt surprisingly quickly.
  • You find that both employees and senior managers succumb to stress and burnout – without anybody having seen the warning signs.

You’re not alone. In a busy day-to-day work life, it can be difficult to find the time and space for the talks that really matter and make a difference – and this is where team coaching comes into the picture.

What Can Team Coaching Do for My Team?

Team coaching helps teams to:

  • Get clarity
  • Enhance teamwork and motivation
  • Build trust among team members
  • Increase team awareness that goes beyond each individual
  • Manage changes and transitions
  • Develop shared commitments

When Is Team Coaching Most Effective?

Team coaching is essential when change is coming – or needed. In these situations, it is not a “nice to have”, but a “need to have”.

Key moments to work with me are:

  • When a new work plan is required
  • When you are merging teams
  • When it’s time to break down the silos
  • When a new manager takes over a team
  • When team efficiency must increase
  • When it is time to address and reverse burnout in a team
  • When there are major organisational changes, such as a merger, rapid growth, or downsizing
  • When a successful team embarks on a challenging new project

Teams that could benefit from coaching with me include work units, branch offices, senior teams, boards of directors, multi-national teams, virtual teams, and small business teams.

Why Work With Me?

It always works best when you have “walked the talk” – and I have. With 17 years of experience working in national and international non-profits, I’ve worked at all levels of an organisation from being an intern to a director and team manager.

I’ve facilitated hundreds of meetings, retreats, and events, created and co-created strategies and work plans, and been through several change processes and transitions as both a team member and a team leader.

How We’ll Work Together

Team coaching is seldom a one-off workshop; it’s a process that usually takes place over three to five sessions because this is the most effective. During the sessions, we set goals, analyse where we are and where we want to go, and make concrete action plans. Between the sessions, the team focuses on executing the action plans from the last session.

My team coaching processes can always be combined with in-house one-on-one coaching and/or mentoring.

The process

Pre-meeting with the team leader to clarify expectations and the desired outcome. Why is the team embarking on this journey? What do they hope to achieve? Can we measure the impact?

Based on the discussions at the pre-meeting, I will design a process that meets the expectations and the desired outcome(s). I will also spend time understanding the organisation’s vision, mission, structure, and culture, including how management is functioning.

The sessions will be held. We will adjust along the way, if necessary, to ensure maximum effect.

We’ll always meet for a follow-up dialogue to talk about the effect, impact, and learnings of the process.
